eezeer is excited to announce the tenth release of their ‘Airlines Monthly Twitter Report’ infographic produced by their extended online service, eezeer Data Lab. The Infographic will be released later today.

Real-Time Statistics of Airlines on Twitter

The Airlines Monthly Twitter Report displays the capabilities of eezeer to produce insightful real-time statistics and consumer driven opinions through twitter.

Tweet Traffic Rises

Each monthly release of the Airlines Monthly Twitter Report infographic has seen a rise in total Tweet traffic and we hope to see this pattern continue as the concept of Airlines on Twitter evolves.

This month’s total incoming and outgoing tweet traffic between Airlines and their Consumers stands at 267 028 Tweets. This is a fantastic increase in Tweets of 14% compared to November!

eezeer Data Lab once again found a hefty increase of nearly 5000 Tweets sent by Airlines to their Consumers during December, great to once again see a notable increase in outgoing Tweets. Airlines seem to be utilizing this vital channel to reach out to their consumers.

The amount of Tweets sent by Consumers to various Airlines saw a near 30 000 Tweet increase compared to November’s result which is an incredible increase compared to previous months.

Best in Class: Air Asia

September saw a major change in Tweeting news, but during the month of October and November, Delta made it back to the top but during December, Air Asia took over and became the Best in Class Airline and 1st position in the Listening Champion category with 17 220 Tweets and 1st position in the Talking Champion category with 4 205 Tweets.

Airlines on Twitter

We have 2 new Airlines on twitter as of December, bringing the total up to 200.

Continent of Focus

This month we take a look at two Top Asian Airlines. Featured is Air Asia with a total of 502 492 Followers and Asiana Airlines with a total of 85 799 accounts that they Follow.

Tweeting News

In Tweeting News, the infographic is focusing on passenger experience subject in tweets.

This month we take a look at the Tweets related to the Passenger Experience.

These tweets appear as a principal subject of the tweets exchanged between consumers and airlines and airports, often ignored by brands. And nonetheless crucial to understand the consumers point of view.

We saw that of the ‘other tweets’ category, 32% of Tweets are related to #PaxEx.

Multi-lingual Infographic

We found that incoming tweets have increased 22.5% in six months.

Outgoing Tweets saw a higher growth of 37.6% in six months.

A whopping 1.2 million Tweets were exchanged between Airlines and their consumers over the past six months.

When mapping out the incoming and outgoing Tweets we saw that while outgoing Tweets saw a steady strong and gradual increase, incoming Tweets varied substantially from month to month, but ultimately, kept on the rise. Both of the highest numbers of Tweets were attained during the month of November, so the sky is the limit as far as Airlines on Twitter is concerned!

Now you have the low down on the November edition of the Airlines Monthly Twitter Report. Over the coming days we will analyze the data in each section to see what we can uncover and learn about Airlines involvement in Social Media over the past months.

We have already begun exploring the first section and second and third section of the infographic, see what we discovered about Airline Ranking on twitter Activity, how Twitter is used more by Airlines than ever and Why Consumers Tweet Airlines.

Today we are looking at Consumer Satisfaction Scores. We are focusing on which Airlines satisfy various categories of interest for their Consumers or Passengers.

The Global satisfaction Score has increased from both March and April to 111.8 in May, it dropped ever so slightly in June to 108.1, mirroring March’s score and increased slightly to 108.6 in July. Augusts’ result was slightly less again with 106.7 but during the month of September we saw an increase, the highest results yet of 112.8. During October this result increased once again to 113.5 but it was in November that the result dropped again, to 102.8 and it was Porter that achieved Global Satisfaction, knocking Virgin America out.

On average the various categories of interest were scored higher in May than during March and April, but in June these scores varied vastly and appeared similar to March’s results. In July the results were once again varied and in August the results were almost identical to July’s results. In September the results dropped again but in October and once again in November, we saw an overall great increase in the scores.

Westjet continues in Customer Service with an slightly lower score from October of 116.8 to result of 113.3 in November..

Virgin Atlantic made its first appearance in Timeliness and within the Consumer Satisfaction Score section with a score of 140.1, knocking KLM with a score of 125, out of the category.

AirTran made its first appearance in Food& Entertainment and within the Consumer Satisfaction Score section with a score of 155.4, knocking Turkish Airlines with a score of 135.7, out of the category.

Virgin Australia made its first appearance in Comfort& Security and within the Consumer Satisfaction Score section with a score of 192.6, knocking Air New Zealand with a score of 131.5, out of the category.

SpiceJet made its first appearance in Baggage Handling and within the Consumer Satisfaction Score section with a score of 133.66, knocking Alaska Airlines with a of 135.8, out of the category.

From what we can see, we find that when the Consumer Satisfaction Scores are very close to the average score of 100, the Airlines do not distinguish themselves very much from their competitors. We can deduce this because their score and therefore their behavior is so close to their competitors that they are of average score.

We can also see that when the Consumer Satisfaction Scores are very close to the average score of 100, the Airlines are obviously better than their competitors but because the gap is so small, they are in fact not hugely better than their competitors.

Airlines, let’s get tweeting! Realize your responsibility to your Consumers and what matters to them most.

Watch this space for more insight into individual sections within the infographic.

Samantha Muller

eezeer Data Lab

[Comments] November 2011 Why Consumers Tweet Airlines

Following the release of the 9th edition of our Airlines Monthly Twitter Report, we take a closer look at the comparisons found between our Airlines Monthly Twitter Reports. Over the coming days we will analyze the data in each section to see what we can uncover and learn about Airlines involvement in Social Media over the past months.

We have already begun exploring the first section and second section of the infographic, see what we discovered about Airline Ranking on twitter Activity and how Twitter is used more by Airlines than ever.

Today we are looking into the reasons why Consumers Tweet. We are focusing on categories of interest and the reason for this is because the majority of all Tweets sent and received, are service related.

The category of most interest, Customer Service has had a constant score over the past months leading up to September’s score of 83.9% of Tweets but saw a drop of nearly 10% in October to 73% of Tweets. November once again saw an increase to 81.8% coverage of Tweets. Timeliness saw a slight drop from October to 8% in November. Food& Entertainment was steadily on the rise but halved in November with a result of 3.4% coverage. Comfort& Security dropped fairly drastically to 1.7%. Baggage Handling remained much the same as last month with 5.1% of Tweets but was in fact our Trending Topic of the month.

One can instantly see what Consumers consider important when Tweeting at Airlines on Twitter. Social Conversation is fun but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, Consumers Tweet about what is most on the hearts and mind, Customer Service.

Airlines, let’s get tweeting! Realize your responsibility to your Consumers and what matters to them most.

Watch this space for more insight into individual sections within the infographic.

Samantha Muller

eezeer Data Lab

[Comments] November 2011 Twitter is used more by Airlines than ever

Following the release of the 9th edition of our Airlines Monthly Twitter Report, we take a closer look at the comparisons found between our Airlines Monthly Twitter Reports. Over the coming days we will analyze the data in each section to see what we can uncover and learn about Airlines involvement in Social Media over the past months.

We have already begun exploring the first section of the infographic, see what we discovered about Airline Ranking on twitter Activity.

Today we are focusing on active Airline Twitter accounts, we can see that Airlines are buzzing and using Twitter more than ever because once again we found an increase in Tweet progression. Tweet traffic increased 13% from October to November 2011! So we are able to see a fantastic increase in Tweet progression.

In November we found the incoming Tweets totaled to 194 764, a fantastic increase!

When looking at Tweets overall we found that 30 Airlines provided 82.8% of Tweets during the month of November. It is great to see that the number of contributing airlines is on the rise and has increased to the level it was in March. Although it is equal to March’s result of 30 Airlines, these Airlines are covering more tweets than in March, from 80% up to September’s result of 85.6%, the highest coverage yet! This month we have two additional Airlines providing the majority of tweets, bringing the total to 198. Keep it up Airlines!

Delta is back in the game and is once again the Best in Class Airline with 10.7% of public tweets sent and received during the month of November, slightly up from October’s result.

Delta is also once again 1st place in the Listening Champion Category but with a fantastic increase of over 5 000 Tweets to a result of 21 190 public Tweets received, followed closely by Air Asia in 2nd place with 18 555 public Tweets received. In 3rd place is Southwest Airlines with 13 610 public Tweets received.

Probably one of our more exciting categories from a Consumers point of view is the talking champion category. Delta jumped from 2nd place in April with 1 959 Tweets sent to 1st place in May with 3 607 Tweets sent, standing firmly in 1st in June with a constant of 3 776 Tweets sent and 4 699 Tweets sent in July with an increase in August with 6 085 Tweets sent. In September Delta dropped 1 000 tweets, yet continued in 1st place with 5 088 Tweets sent during October Delta dropped nearly another 1 000 tweets with 4 319 Tweets sent. In November, Delta’s Tweets plummeted to 2 645, placing them in 3rd place. In 1st place we have Air Asia with an increase of 2 000 Tweets from October to 6 209 in November and in 2nd place American Airlines once again, who sent 3 817 Tweets.

During October this result increased once again to 113.5 and it was Virgin America that achieved Global Satisfaction, knocking Air new Zealand out.

On average the various categories of interest were scored higher in May than during March and April, but in June these scores varied vastly and appeared similar to March’s results. In July the results were once again varied and in August the results were almost identical to July’s results. In September the results dropped again but in October, we saw an overall great increase in the scores.

Westjet continues in Customer Service with an increased score from September of 112.4, to Octobers result of 116.8.

KLM made its first appearance in Timeliness and within the Consumer Satisfaction Score section with a score of 125, knocking Airphil Express with a score of 115.3, out of the category.

Turkish Airlines made its first appearance in Food& Entertainment and within the Consumer Satisfaction Score section with a score of135.7, knocking Frontier with a score of 116.7, out of the category.

Air New Zealand made its second appearance in Comfort& Security with a score of 131.5, knocking Philippine Airlines with a score of 116.2, out of the category.

Alaska Airlines made its first appearance in Baggage Handling and its second appearance within the Consumer Satisfaction Score section with a score of 135.8, knocking Airphil Express with a of 120.3, out of the category.

[Comments] October 2011 Why Consumers Tweet Airlines

Following the release of the 8th edition of our Airlines Monthly Twitter Report, we take a closer look at the comparisons found between our Airlines Monthly Twitter Reports.

Timeliness covered 11.3% of Tweets during October, an increase from its September result. Food& Entertainment is steadily on the rise and covered 7.1% of Tweets during October. Comfort& Security saw a 268% increase in Tweet coverage making it our Trending Topic of the month and with 4.7% of Tweets. Baggage Handling remained much the same as last month with 4% of Tweets.

One can instantly see what Consumers consider important when Tweeting at Airlines on Twitter. Social Conversation is fun but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, Consumers Tweet about what is most on the hearts and mind, Customer Service.

Airlines, let’s get tweeting!

Tweet traffic increased 20% from August to October 2011! So we are able to see a fantastic increase in Tweet progression.

In October we found the incoming Tweets totaled to 172 835, a fantastic increase! Airlines activity in Tweets increased a hugely to a total of 34 130 outgoing Tweets, the best result yet!

Tweeting Airlines increased by 10 from August and September’s result to make a total of 196 Tweeting Airlines in the month of October. The total number of Active Tweeting Airlines decreased by 2, making a total of 86 in September.

When looking at Tweets overall we found that 30 Airlines provided 84.4% of Tweets during the month of October. It is great to see that the number of contributing airlines is on the rise and has increased to the level it was in March. Although it is equal to March’s result of 30 Airlines, these Airlines are covering more tweets than in March, from 80% up to September’s result of 85.6%, the highest coverage yet! Compared to June’s result, there are 4 more Airlines providing the majority of tweets. Keep it up Airlines!

Delta is back in the game and is once again the Best in Class Airline with 10.2% of public tweets sent and received during the month of October.
Delta is also 1st place in the Listening Champion Category with 16 808 public Tweets received, followed closely by Qantas in 2nd place with 16 710 public Tweets received. In 3rd place is Southwest Airlines with 12854 public Tweets received.

Last month Delta dropped 1 000 tweets, yet continued in 1st place with 5 088 Tweets sent and this month Delta dropped nearly another 1 000 tweets with 4 319 Tweets sent. In 1st place we have Air Asia with 4605 public Tweets sent and in 3rd place American Airlines, who sent 3 179 Tweets.
